WARNING TO MARINERS

WRECK OF THE KAKARIKI (mESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) January 31. The Director-General of the Postal Department has received the following navigation warning to mariners: "Advised that the steamer Kakariki is lying sunk at latitude 37 degrees 55 mins 18 sees south. 144 degrees 54min 33sec east, bearing 195 degrees six cables from Gellibrand Pile light. The vessel is lying north 23 west. The funnel, mast, and ventilators are above the water. The wreck is marked by a green buoy bearing the word 'wreck* and showing an occulting green light at night, with the characteristic three seconds light, three seconds dark. Mariners are advised on leaving or approaching Melbourne to do so via the Port Melbourne mail boat channel."
