BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT IN BRITAIN

LONDON, January 29. It was reported at the annual meeting of the Boy Scouts' Association that the number of scouts in 49 recognised countries had increased by 86,869 to 2,592,832 in 1936. The number of scouts in the Empire had increased by 72,717 to 1,011,936, and the number in the British Isles had decreased by 2985 to 445,411. The report reveals serious financial difficulties. The expenditure in Britain exceeds income by £8225. The movement is at present living on capital. The annual subscriptions are only £6OO sterling.
