“Our two little orphans, Beverley and Janet, were not forgotten either, for as well as a big stocking containing many things, two large dressed dolls were put on the tree, with the season’s greetings from the Gay Chums’ Club. “The box of garments sent in for “The Press Ship” Christmas Mission contained:— 42 pairs pants, 21 shirts, 4 pilchers, 5 knitted dresses, 15 dresses, 12 knitted singlets, 15 pairs socks. 5 pinafores, 10 jumpers, 1 bed jacket, 6 flannel petticoats, 6 cardigans, 5 bonnets, 1 baby set (6 pieces), 5 pairs gloves, 1 boy’s set (3 pieces), 1 pair slippers, 1 pram cover, 11 cot covers (peggy squares), 12 coat hangers, 3 dressed dolls, 2 boys’ suits, 1 pair bloomers, 1 pair bootees, 2 Christmas stockings, 30 baskets of sweets, 18 handkerchiefs, sweets, 5/- worth. “Concerts and guessing competitions brought in sufficient funds for the purchase of material and wool for these articles, and we have left a few shillings to begin work for the 1937 mission.” We have 10 baby turkeys and 5 chickens. —MARY CHAPMAN, “The Ranche,”
