CANTERBURY TRAVELLERS AND WAREHOUSEMEN

OFFICERS ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING

More than 60 members were present at the twenty-fourth annual meeting of the Canterbury Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association held last evening in the association rooms. The president, Mr R. F. Voller, presided. The annual report, which was adopted, showed a credit balance of £64 16s 2d on the year’s working. The mortuary benefit fund showed a credit of £4570 as compared with £4352 for the previous year. Payments to the relief fund for the year amounted to £94, leaving a credit balance of £1477, as compared with £1416. The accident and sickness insurance fund also disclosed a satisfactory position. £lO9 4s lid having been paid to Canterbury members during the year. The twenty-third annual conference of the United Association had been held in Wellington during the year. The committee had made every endeavour to further the interests of the association’s building fund. During the year social and sports fixtures had been held, and were very successful, and the orchestra had added considerably to the success of many of these functions. . , The membership of the association for the year was 533, as compared with 550 for the previous year. The library had been added to, many new books being purchased. Because of the efforts of the association in the Mayor’s queen carnival fund £IOO had been allocated for the Blind Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Fund.
