LEARNER DRIVERS

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir, —I believe it is the custom in England to place on the front of a car driven by a learner a large yellow or red L. Is net this an admirable idea?

I am anxious to drive myself, but I certainly have no wish to harm any innocent cyclist or pedestrian. I am well aware that some experienced motorists expect everyone to give way to them; but when I sound my/ horn I am really signalling, "I am coming! Please, give me plenty of room." After all. we all have to learn, and quite a number of drivers are considerate to everyone. I am sure that were I crossing the road in front of a car flourishing a prominent L I should be only to pleased to give it plenty of room, instead of standing my ground till the last moment.—Yours, MERELY A WOMAN.
