FOOD SHORTAGE IN GERMANY
PROTECTING THE BREAD SUPPLY SALES OP WHEAT FOR STOCK FORBIDDEN (UJCITKD TRESS ASSOCIATION —COrYHIGHT.) (Received January 14, 9.30 p.m.) BERLIN, January 13. To protect, the bread supply, a decree forbids the sale of wheat and rye or products used in bread production for fodder purposes. It is estimated that compared with last year, at least 2,000,000 tons less wheat and rye must be fed to live stock. The authorities are arranging to buy fodder abroad wherever it is procurable. NEGOTIATIONS WITH FRANCE DR. SCHACHT NOT TO VISIT PARIS (Received January 14, 7.30 p.m.) BERLIN, January 13. The official news agency denies that Dr. H. Schacht (Minister for National Economy) is going to Paris to negotiate for an agreement whereby France, Britain and America would grant credits to Germanv. to ease the serious food problem. The statement adds that commercial negotiations between France and Germany are proceeding in the hands of Government experts.
