SECOND CASE AT METHVEN
INFANTILE PARALYSIS EPIDMEIC CITY STILL FREE A positive case of infantile paralysis' was reported from Ashburton yesterday to the medical officer of health for the Canterbury and Westland districts, Dr. T. Fletcher Telford. Dr. Telford said the sufferer, a woman of 25 years of age, had been in direct contact with the previous case admitted into the Ashburton Hospital last week-end, a girl of 16 years from the Methven district. Christchurch is still clear of the disease, and no further admissions have been reported from South Canterbury. BRIGHTER OUTLOOK AT BUNEDIN ONLY ONE CASE ADMITTED YESTERDAY (I'ItESS ASSOCIATION TELEOItAM.) DUNEDIN, January 14. The more favourable position, in ttie infantile paralysis epidemic, which lias been noticeable during the last few days, was maintained U'-day, v/hen only one patient was E<J;nitted to the Dunedin Hospital. The patient is a girl aged 10, from the Punedin district, and is for observation only. MEETING OF EDUCATION BOARD POSTPONED The ordinary meeting of the Canterbury Education Board, which was to have been held this month, has now been postponed, Mr L. E. Rowley, secretary of the board, stated yesterday. The next meeting of the board will be held on February 17, 18, and 19.
