AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. DELEGATES MEET ASSOCIATION FORMED AT AUCKLAND GATHERING (PRESS A3SOCIATIOE TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND. January 13. Delegates from art galleries and museums in Australia and New Zealand attended the first meeting of the Art Galleries and .Museums Association ot Australia and New Zealand, held at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The delegates were welcomed by Sir Garrick Robertson, president of the council of the Auckland Institute and Museum, ; who expressed his pleasure at seeing so many museum and art gallery authorities assembled. He said that the occasion was historic, as it was the first time representatives from museums and art galleries in Australia and New Zealand had gathered on New Zealand soil After passing a formal resolution terming the association and deciding that those institutions and persdns present at the Melbourne conference and the Auckland meeting should be invited to become foundation members of the association, the meeting discussed a draft constitution that had been drawn up by Dr. C. Anderson, of the Australian Museum. Mr. Gilbert Archey, curator of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Mr John Barr, chief librarian, and Professor Richards. The object of the association ■ as set out in the draft constitution is to promote the welfare of art galleries and museums, to increase and diffuse knowledge of all matters relating to them, and to encourage helpful relations among art galleries and museums, their governing bodies and staffs, and all others interested in them. Various clauses dealing with the membership of the association were referred for consideration to a subcommittee.
