AUCKLAND, Jjiinuary 13. “No effort will be spared to hnprove railway crossings V and give the public the best security/- possible,” said the Minister for Railways (the Hon. D, G. Sullivan) after ft an inspection of three level crossW gs in the Mount Albert district. ■ The Minister added ■ that * the problem of protecting the public was troubling railway authorities; throughout the world. He said thaV> endless suggestions for the improvement or elimination of level crossings Tiad been received from the public. In main, however, the safety devices hi use in New Zealand were those whlich had proved to be most in the various parJs of the world.
