NORTH ISLAND TOURNEY P. L. HARTNELL’S SUCCESS IN MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. January 13. The North Island croquet championships were continued to-day in beautiful weather. F. L. Hartnell (New Plymouth) played well in winning both lives of the men’s championship. ,ln the first life against A. J. Gibbs (Patea) he did not allow his opponent any opportunity to score and won the match 26-0. The Wanganui player, W. Jarvie, gave him sterner opposition in the second life final, in which both made mistakes. In a match to decide the runner-up, Gibbs beat Jarvie. Results:— Championship Doubles Final Mrs Mathewson and W. Tye (Kelburn) beat Hesdames W. E. Caldow and D. C. Henderson (Wellington), ,26-18. Women’s Championship First Life Mrs Bock won by. default .from Mrs Caldow. Mrs Barrett (Auckland) beat Mrs Bock (Hutt), 26-15. . Mrs Jarvie (Wanganui) beat Mrs Mathewson (Kelburn), 26-12. Mrs Gambrill (Palmerston) beat Mrs Jarvie. 26-7. Second Life Mrs Bartlett (Auckland) beat Mrs Kibblewhite (Hamilton), 26-22. Mrs Anstiss (Palmerston) beat Mrs Bartlett. 26-15. Miss Washer (Patea) beat Mrs Henderson (Wellington), 26-24. Miss Washer beat Mrs Bennett’ (Hastings), 26-9. Men's Championship First Life-Final F. L. Hartnell (New Plymouth) beat A. J. Gibbs (Patea), 26-0. Second Life —Final F..L. Hartnell beat W. Jarvie (Wdnganui), 26-23.

RANGIORA BEATS UNITED , A team from the Rangiora Croquet Club beat one from United by 7 games to 2 at Rangiora on Tuesday.
