CUNINGHAM HOUSE

.TO THB EDITOB 0» THB PRESS. Sir,—l sincerely hope the suggestion of "A Flower Lover" in "The Press' this morning will not be adopted The suggestion is that a box should be placed in the public gardens near the Cuningham House, into which visitors could place their small coins, etc., to help in the upkeep of the house. Citizens pay for the upkeep of the gardens in their rates and in general are, I believe, quite content to do .so, for they receive most excellent value for their money. Of course anyone wishing to make a special donation is quite at liberty to do so, and if sent to the proper authorities, it would, no doubt, be thankfully received. I fully endorse all that is said by "A Flower Lover" and another correspondent in to-day's issue concerning the beauty of the gardens, but to place a "begging box" in the midst of all this beauty would, to my mind, be a shocking thing.—Yours, etc., ANOTHER FLOWER LOVER.
