WEDDINGS

RITCHIE—CAMERON A wedding of interest to South Canterbury residents was celebrated by the Rev. Adam Begg, of Timaru, m the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Temuka. The bride was Marion Marie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A,, D. Cameron (Temuka), and the bridegroom was John Malcolm Alexander, son of Mr and Mrs Donald Ritchie (Clandeboye). The bride, escorted by her father, wore a frock of white faconne georgette with fully trained skirt. Her hand embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of lilies and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids. Misses Jean Cameron (sister of the bride) and Ella McCallum (Invercargill), wore frocks of forget-me-not blue cellophane cloque, made with cowled bodices, shirred bishop sleeves, and sashes of blue chiffon velvet to tone. They carried multicoloured floral bouquets. The train-bearer, little Margaret Austin, wore a full length frock of forget-me-not blue georgette with shirred raglan sleeves. She carried a Victorian floral posie, Mr D. Hopkinson was best man, and Mr Alan Cameron (the bride's brother) was groomsman. The bridegroom, best man, and groomsman wore tartan ties, and the guard of honour was formed by members of the Temuka Highland Pipe Band.

- A reception was held in the Presbyterian Hall, where guests were received by Mrs A. D. Cameron, who wore a frock of brown carioca crepe with flat pleatings of beige and a beige hat Her bouquet was of tangerine abutilons and maidenhair fern. Mrs Ritchie, sen., wore an ensemble of navy blue tree-bark crepe and hat to match, and her bouquet was of cerise roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs J. T. Austin, grandmother, of the bride, wore a tailored black pinstriped costume and carried a bouquet of dark red roses. For travelling, the bride wore, a broken check dusky pink .ensemble, beige and pink blouse with rjchelieu embroidery, and a dark brown hat. Mr and Mrs J. M. A. Ritchie will live in Temuka. FIFIELD—JOHNSON The marriage was celebrated at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Ashburton. of Maude Mary, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. W. Johnson, Ashburton, and Jonas, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs W. Fifleld, of Ashburton. The Rev. Archdeacon' A. J. Petrie performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-length pale blue georgette frock, with a cowl neckline, a pink sash, orange blossom spray, and hat to match. She carried a shower bouquet of pale ’ blue delphiniums, pink carnations, rosebuds, lilies, and maidenhair fern.

The bridesmaid. Miss Mary Johnson, cousin of the bride, wore an anklelength oyster grey silk crepe frock with pale blue pleated collar, and smocked yoke, and hat to match. She carried a shower bouquet of pink rosebuds and maidenhair fern. Mr Harold Beaven (Ashburton) was best man. ?'

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Madden’s tea rooms, the tables being decorated to,the: frocks of the bridal group;—’ Mrs’ Johnson received her guests wearing a smart figured marocain frock with. navy hat and coat BROADFIELD SCHOOL SUCCESSFUL DANCE A pleasant dance, arranged by the Broadfield School Committee, was held in the Prebbleton Hall, the many visitors enjoying dancing to music played by Les. Kinsman’s Band, and the extras by Miss V. Kolkman and Miss P. Gordon. Mr and Mrs J. T. Gallagher won a lucky spot one-step, and a Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Joan Pimm and Mr R. Mehlhopt. In the card-room prizes were won by Mrs J. Giles and Mr A. Tomson, Mrs E. Walker and Mr A. Wood being second. Messrs R. Wheeler and J. T, Gallagher were masters of ceremonies.
