MAGIC DAY

Lady Gay promised you a Magic Day a week. It won’t always be the same day. It may be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. , Next week Monday is the Magic Day. Monday, January n, is Plough Monday, a very ancient festival ol England. On that day ploughmen used to drag a decorated plough through the villages, rattling a money-box as they went. Morris-dancers, decked in gay ribbons, followed, them. The ploughmen, too, wore gay ribbons and clean smocks. You can’t plough your garden, but how about doing a little i bit of weeding on Lady Gay’s Magic Day. There is sure to be something that needs seeing to in your garden. Here are Three Magic Day . Competitions 1. Search for four-leafed clovers. They’re very magic. See how many you can find. 2. Choose any flower you like and press it carefullv between the leaves of a thick book. Send it in to Lady Gay. 3. Use your power of observation. Watoh the birds, and make a list of those that visit your garden. Send in the results of the “Magic Day” competition to Lrdy Gay. There are small “Magic Day” prizes for each class. You need not actually send the four-leafed clovers, but state the number you found. Be very honest.
