A WATER GARDEN
Did you make a rock dishgarden as described in last week’s “Gay Gazette”? Many members did. Kathleen Sheat and her cousin made a water garden. Kathleen says:— I thought the idea of making gardens in bowls as described in “The Gay Gazette” was a good one and when my cousin and I went for a walk down to the rush paddock on Sunday afternoon we gathered ferns, buttercups and all the plants that liked water. To-day we made a swampy garden in an old enamel washing up bowl. We sank an oval fish-tin in the centre and covered
the bottom with sand and the sides with moss. We put all the plants round the outside and it looked very pretty. I have a "number of lead animals and I put a pelican wv the ferns. A flamingo stood on one leg on the edge of the water; and I propped a swan in amongst some baby rushes at the end of the lake. I wish you could see it. —KATHLEEN SHE AT. P.8.H., L.8.H., Brookside.
These two little girls want to find their way to the playground at the top of the picture. See if you can find the road round the houses that they must take. This competition is open to all members under 11. A small prize for the best and neatest answer
