AFFAIRS OF LEESTON CIRCUIT The Rev,. S. Bailey presided over the quarterly meeting of officials of the Leeston Methodist circuit. Sympathy was extended to. several members of the church in different parts of the circuit, who had been ill. The finance reports showed that although there was a debit in the general account on. the quarter’s working, contributions to home and foreign missions and to the orphanage funds lor the year had increased, the total raised for these purposes being more than £lO4. Resolutions congratulating the Brookside Sunday School on the attainment of its diamond jubilee and
the Dunsandel Church on its silver jubilee, were carried, favourable reports on' Sunday School apd Bible class work for the year were submitted. Messrs T. W. Brooks and. R. Barnett were re-elected circuit stewards, and Mr J. H. Skinner secretary. Mr S. W. Worner was elected lay representative to conference, with Mr R. Barnett as substitute. The Rev. S. Bailey was* granted leave of absence during February for a holiday. A motion was carried commending the action of Mr A. Tong in making a protest against the Southbridge recreation ground being used for motor-cycle racing on a Sunday by a visiting sports and picnic party.
