<J> DIRECT SAILINGS Two overseas liners are to sail from Lyttelton to-day for London. They are the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Mahia, which is to sail via Montevideo and Teneriffe, and the Blue Star Line steamer, Doric Star, sailing via Panama. The Japanese steamer Chifuku Maru, due here to-day from Timaru for final loading, is to sail to-morrow for Kobe direct. Waterside Workers’ Union A meeting of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union was held yesterday morning to consider proposals drawn up for a new Dominion agreement with the employers. A ballot will be taken as to the men’s approval or otherwise, of the proposed agreement. Waterfront Busy There were five overseas vessels, an intercolonial cargo steamer, and two coastal vessels in port yesterday and the waterfront was verv busy. Work did not start until 10 a.m.. because of a stop-work meeting of the Waterside Workers’ Union. The departure of three overseas vessels, which were to have sailed yesterday, was postponed until to-day.
