GILLESPIE’S BEACH (PBIBB ASSOCIATION TILXOXAU.) DUNEDIN, December 25. Gillespie’s Beach dredge returned 106oz Bdwt for 214 hours. WAITAHU (PKISS ASSOCIATION TSLEOSAM.) DUNEDIN. December 24. The Waitahu Company reports a further partial wash-up for a return of 61oz 7dwt for 23 shifts of elevating. WORKSOP EXTENDED (FkISS ASSOCIATION TBLIBBAM.) GREYMOUTH. December 25. The Worksop Extended return was 117cz in 133 hours, from 12,000 yards. ARGO The Argo return was 150oz for 225 hours (10 days), and 20,000 yards dredged. MOSSY CREEK The Mossy Creek return was 30oz 2dwt for 30 hours, 4800 yards being dredged. MAORI GULLY Maori Gully dredge returned 740z of amalgam, which is expected to yield 360z of retorted gold, for 102 hours. The dredge has closed down till January 3. TALISMAN DUBBO Thirty-four tons of ore were treated at the Golden Dawn .Battery for an approximate realisation of £264. BIG RIVER RETURN The gold return for the months of October. November. ' and December (crushing being done intermittently) was as follows; Battery Department—23o tons stone crushed for 87oz 19dwt melted gold. Cyanide Department—23o tons sands treated for 290z sdwt bullion. Total estimated value. £740. In addition, 3 tons 2cwt 761b concentrates were saved valued at £65. ALEXANDER MINES The report for the month of December is as follows: No. 5 N.E. Drive—The position of the face is now 48 feet north of crosscut off main north drive. Stone lying almost horizontally and six to 12 inches in width, is showing in the fault line about two feet above the floor of the level. South End—Face 30 feet south of cross-cut, reef eight feet in width, showing from the floor up to the fault line about 12' inches below the level caps. The lode is very solid and clean, end lying very strong underfoot. The length of proved stone going underfoot on this block is 78 feet. There is also a block going down in the main north level of 25 feet in length, making a total of 103 feet. No. 6 Cross-cut—Preparations are being made for an early start In the New Year for driving No. 6 crosscut. The lode being so strong underfoot in No. 5 level gives every promise of a very successful level in No. 6. Sloping—Sloping has been carried on above the intermediate and No. 5 levels. On the extreme south end above the intermediate, the ore has been taken out to No. 4 level for a length of 40 feet. A fair block of ore remains to be taken out above the centre of the block, but owing to a displacement 80 feet of slope driving on the lode is required before this can be extracted. In No. 5 backs, the lode looks well and shows a width from two to 10 feet. The lode is still lengthening on the south end. BRITISH WAR LOAN STOCK LONDON, December 24.
