SHIRLEY SCHOOL
TO THE EDITOB OF THE PRESS. Sir, —I would like to answer a letter written about the Shirley School householders’ meeting, held December 2. 1936. Mrs McKay states that the meeting was only stacked through the committee’s failure to provide seating for all present. Before the meeting started one of the committee stood and said there were plenty of emnty seats for all present at the front. But as no one came forward, the only thing one could think was that they did not want to break the party who seemed to want to make as much noise as possible every chance they got. As far as letting them know about the meeting, the advertisement was in and also each child was told to tell its parents that a meeting was to be held and to be sure to come. After all it is the parents who are most interested in the school. The householders put this committee in and it certainly does not seem right that as soon as it does a thing a certain crowd should demand a meeting and want the committee to reconsider it.—Yours, etc., PARENT. December 23, 1936.
