—♦— mishap on the north AUCKLAND LINE track blocked all day (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 25. Derailed about 4.30 p.m. yesterday, when the 1.40 train from Auckland to Helensville was near Rewhiti, seven miles south of Helensville, the rear truck was dragged along the line for about three-quarters of a mile and then struck a projection, causing the derailment of seven other trucks and two passenger cars. Nobody was hurt, and it is not yet known what caused the original derailment. The track was damaged enough by the mishap to stop all other trains using the line that day. A breakdown gang and a crane were sent immediately from Auckland, and men worked all night repairing the damage, the ordinary service being resumed by 7.45 a.m. to-day. While the work was going on it was necessary to tranship all trains on the line passengers walking about 200 yards from one train to the other. The main express from Opua to Auckland at 5.29 p.m. was the first to be affected, and all other trains were late. To-day the train due to leave Helensville at 8.50 a.m. for Auckland did not leave, passengers being taken by bus to the scene of the accident and there put into a train waiting for them. By 7.45 a.m. the track was clear and all normal services were resumed. THREE PERSONS INJURED COLLISION NEAR GISBORNE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) * GISBORNE, December 25. As the result of a head-on collision on Tatapouri Hill, about six miles from Gisborne, early on Christmas morning, the driver of one car, Charles Bright, and two of his passengers, Misses Beryl and Ellen Calvert, were admitted to the Cook Hospital suffering from bruises and shock. Their condition is not serious. SIX PERSONS INJURED MOTOR VEHICLES IN COLLISION (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 25. Six were injured in a collision at Pahautanui, at 7 o’clock this morning, between a car driven by L. K. "Palmer, motor trimmer, Petone, and a petrol waggon driven by P. Pallesen, motor driver. Esplanade, Petone. Three of the injured were taken to hospital, including Pallesen, with a slight head injury. An unidentified man died in hospital as a result of injuries received through being struck by a taxi at Grey Lynn.
