BROADCASTING
TO THE EDITOB Or THB PHIS 3. Sir,—A few months ago I heard over Ihe radio a recording of the adventures of Mr X. in London, and I must say it was most interesting. I have spoken to other listeners, and all have said how much they enjoyed the recording. I wonder whv the new director of broadcasting has cut out the recordings. The person who takes Ihe part of Mr X. has a voice suited for broadcasting and speaks good English, and his story seems to be well thought out. That is something which it is rather hard to credit to the Japanese houseboy and the so-called humorists, Eb and Zeb. I, for one, would like to know why the recordings have not been continued. . Surely our new director can give us better programmes for our money than those which are filled up with the utter drivel that we now hear. Hoping to hear more of the adventures of Mr X.—Yours etc WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE*' " December 19, 1936
