Winning a hamper in a Christmas raffle cost Cecil Ernest Waller, aged • r >6, a shepherd, £lO and the endorsement of his driving license for three years. Waller pleaded guilty to a charge of being intoxicated. According to the police, the defendant, after sampling the contents of the hamper, backed his car into a stationary bicycle. However, he had had a good character previously, and the cancellation of his license was not sought.
