HOPE FOR END OF REVOLT
CONSULTATIONS WITH , REBEL LEADER 1 ADVANCE OF NANKING FORCES RESISTED \ ' ( (Received December 22, 11.25 p.m.) LONDON, December 21. The Shanghai correspondent of “The Times” says that Mr T. V. Soong, Marshal Chiang Kai-shek’s son-in-law, and Mr W. H. Donald, Chiang’s adviser, returned by air from Sianfu, the rebels’ headquarters, where they were in close touch with Chiang and Marshal Hsuehliang, the leader of the army revolt. They expressed hope for an early settlement. Meanwhile the Government forces are advancing and fighting has developed at Lanchow and elsewhere. Aircraft are bombing the rebels to prevent their concentration.
