♦ GIFTS AND ADVICE FROM THE GOVERNMENT (Received December 22, 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, December 21. More than 3,000,000 poor children gathered round 23,000 Christmas trees throughout Germany, received gifts from the Government and listened to Dr. P. J. Goebbels, Minister for Propaganda, broadcast, declaring that Herr Hitler was the special protector and patron saint of German children, who should know that the Fatherland w<puld not only call on them for sacrifices in a time of need, but would give them happiness on festive occasions. They were children of the people who were again proud, happy, apd free in Germany, which was a quiet island of peace while elsewhere throughout the world hatred and disorder reigned. DECREE AIMED TO SAVE WHEAT fewer kinds of flour to BE PRODUCED (Received December 22, 7.30 p.m.) BERLIN, December 21. A decree reduces the varieties of flour which millers are permitted to ' produce from nine to lour in. older ■ to reduce the requirements of wheat. '■ Bakers fear difficulty in providing palatable wares.
