TAEGE—ANDREWES

The wedding was celebrated qmetly at the Presbyterian Church, Sheffield, Canterbury, of Mabel Summers, eldest daughter of the late Mr H. H. Andrewes, formerly town clerk, Hokitika and Leslie Reginald, second s°n °f Mr and Mrs H. A. Taege, of Greendale. The ceremony was performed by the ■ L. W. Rothwell. The future home <3 f Mr and Mrs Taege will be at Annai.

SMITH—BRACKENRIDGE

The marriage took place at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Grace, Alice, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Brackenridge, St. Martins road, Hillmorton, and David Gordon, second son of Mr and Mrs J. T. Smi , Leslie street, Upper Riccarton. The Rev. J. Lawson Robinson performed the ceremony, and Mr R. E. Lake was organist. During the signing of the register Mr E. Hendry sang a solo. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of pale pink satin inset with panels 9f pleating, the back panel widening into ® train. The pleats were carried out in the iuu sleeves drawn into a band at the wrist. Her veil was of pale pink tulle mounted on a pink satin cap with stiffened pleated tulle forming a halo, finished with pink orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies, pink roses, and sweet peas. The bridesmaids were Misses Agnes Brackenridge and Ralta lies, who wore ground-length frocks of lilac net over taffeta, made with puffed sleeves and skirts tight fitting to the knees, then falling very full with rows of hlac satin ribbon round the hem line. Peter Pan collars caught with flowers finished the necklines. Their hats with floral crowns had halos of stiffened net, and they carried bouquets of mauve sweet peas and pink roses. Master Jimmie Gordon (a nephew of the bride) was train-bearer. He wore a satin suit to harmonise with the bride’s dress. As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a pink horseshoe by little Mary Stalker. Mr J. R. Smith was best man. Mr C. G. Douglas (cousin of the bridegroom) was groomsman. A reception and dance were afterwards held at Dixieland, where music was played by Fred Smith’s band. Mrs Brackenridge wore a frock of navy lace with lemon georgette front, and navy straw hat, and earned a bouquet of red and lemon roses. Mrs Smith wore a brown georgette and lace frock, and a brown Leghorn hat finished with a gold rose. She carried a bouquet of gold roses. The bride’s travelling ‘suit was a navy and white ensemble worn with a navy hat. Mr and Mrs D. G. Smith will make their home in Christchurch.

CAMPBELL—ANDERSON

At St. George’s Presbyterian Church the Rev. A, McNeur celebrated the marriage of Miss Iris Lydia Anderson, second daughter of Mr and Mrs S. C. Anderson. Opawa road, and Sidney, rider son of Mr and Mrs S. Campbell, Bnwonvale avenue, Cashmere. The bride wore a slightly-trained frock of magnolia satin, heavily smocked at the yoke and at the wrists nf the full sleeves. Her oval veil of embroidered tulle fell from a can of orange blossom and she carried a bououet of red roses, begonias, and abulilons.

Miss Margaret McFarlane, who attended as bridesmaid, wore a pink silk mai’ocain frock, made with slightlypouched bodice, wide belt, and puffed sleeves, while the skirt, rucked at the back, had a short train. Her hat of silver lame was rucked high at the back and trimmed with pink flowers to match her bouquet of pink sweet peas and carnations. Mr George Giles was best man and Mr Anderson gave his daughter away. The reception was held at Dixieland. The bride’s mother wore a brown flowered frock and tan coat and hat.

For travelling the bride wore a brown floral marocain frock, plain brown coatee, brown straw hat with eye veil, and teddy bear coat.

SILVER WEDDING

Mr and Mrs W. S. Fraser, Barbour street, celebrated their silver wedding by entertaining many friends. Those present included the bridesmaid at the wedding, Mrs Hogwood, and the flowergirl, Mrs Kent. Games were won by Miss J. Searle. F. Beveridge, and R,' Fahey. The pianist was Mr F. Entwhistle, assisted by Mr R. Beveridge. TIMARU NEWS SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Miss J. R. Barr, lady principal of the Girls’ High School, left yesterday on a visit to Auckland. Miss Edith Huddleston arrived yesterday from Hamilton to spend the holidays with her mother, Mrs Huddleston (“Cadogan,” Sefton street).

Misses Wright and Riley (Craighead Diocesan School) left yesterday for Queen Charlotte Sound.

Miss Barbara Bell (Ranfurly street) has returned from a visit to the Franz Josef Glacier. Mr and Mrs F. I. Washbourn (“Wichenford,” Grant’s road) left yesterday to spend a holiday in Nelson. Mrs W. H. Walton and Miss Dorothy Walton (Park lane) will leave to-day to stay at Peel Forest. Miss Dorothy Barron ("Ranui,” Grey road) will be their guest. Miss Sarah Morgan (Cain street) and Miss Jean McLean (Cricklewood) are passengers by the Awatea for Sydney, They will also visit Melbourne.

Miss Ada Inman, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Sydney Quartley (Palmerston North), has returned to spend Christmas at Cattle Valley.

Miss June Orbell (Park lane) has left on a visit to Auckland. Mrs Muir (Dunedin) will be the guest of her daughter. Mrs James Cleland (Bidwill street), for Christmas. Miss Jessie Black is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Black (Wai-iti road). Mrs W. R. Townsend (Christchurch) is staying with her oarents, Mr and Mrs G. H. Andrews (Evans street). Mr and Mrs W. J. Smith (Trafalgar street) have left to spend the Christmas holidays with their son in Greymouth.
