RACEHORSE STRUCK BY TRAM
* £2OOO DAMAGES CLAIMED (Received December 22, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 22. A writ claiming £2OOO damages has been issued by Henry Edgar Russell against the Commissioner of Road Transport because of an injury alleged to have been received by the colt Mala when it was struck by a tram at Randwick on the morning of the last Australian Jockey Club’s Derby. Mala finished second to Talking in the race. Russell claims that he had to withdraw Mala from “numerous” subsequent racing engagements.
