BOUT BETWEEN ROSS AND CARROLL
CHAMPION'S MANAGER EAGER TO MAKE CONTRACT (UNITED VHESS ASSOCIATION—COt'YRIGHT.) (Received December 21, 11.5 p.m.) CHICAGO, December 20. Mr Pian, manager of Barney Ross, world welter-weight champion, told the Associated Press that he had cabled Mr Charles Lucas, the Australian boxing promoter,. accepting his offer for a bout between Ross and Jack Carroll, provided the guarantee money was deposited at Chicago by Easter Monday. The date of the fight suggested b.v Mr Lucas is satisfactory to Mr Pian, but Mr Lucas's suggestion of Mr Mickey Farr as the promoter • to to Sydney to arrange the details is impossible because of the shipping schedules, hence the insistence on the deposit of the guarantee. Ross has been planning to meet Jimmy McLarnin at Madison Square Garden, but the New York Boxing Commission insists that he should fight Garcia. The terms of the contract for this bout are unsatisfactory to Mr Pian, who is therefore eager to close with the Australian contract.
