NEW TRAFFIC INSPECTOR APPOINTED
HEATHCOTE COUNTY Mr A. J. Tait, of Huntsbury, was appointed traffic inspector to the Heathcote County Council at a meeting .of the council last evening. He succeeds Mr D. E. Hopwood, who has been appointed to a position with the Highways Board. There were 71 applications for the position, and of these five were interviewed by the council last evening. Mr Tait has had 20 years' experience on the road. He secured his driving license in 1912 and received a training in the mechanical construction of cars. He was educated at the Boys' High School, and later attended night classes at Canterbury University College. He is a returned soldier, and during the war, after service in which he received a disability which prevented his return to the front, he became a despatch rider attached to the New Zealand Headquarters staff.
