BAN ON REGISTRATION AS UNEMPLOYED
SEAMEN TO BE REFERRED TO SHIPPING COMPANIES (I'ItESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGEAM.) WELLINGTON, December 18. Applications from seamen for regis-, tration as unemployed are to be declined for an undefined period, the Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) said to-day. The decision was taken because of reports that considerable difficulty had been met in completing ships' crews. Departmental officers had been' instructed that any seaman seeking relief was to be referred to the shipping companies and others requiring tne services of seamen.
