MURDER OF SWISS NAZI
STUDENT SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS' GAOL
(Received December 15, 5.5 p.m.) GENEVA, December 14. David Frankfurter, who murdered Herr Wilhelm Gustloff, leader of the Swiss Nazis, a German subject, at Davos in February last, was sentenced to 18 years' penal servitude. He was ordered to pay the costs of the trial and damages to the widow. Frankfurter, who is aged 26, is a Jugoslavian medical student. He said that he broke into Gustloff s home and committed the murder because of his hatred of the Nazis. The Swiss Socialists had repeatedly asked for the -ekpulsion of Gustloff. alleging that he was not only a Nazi leader, but an agent provocateur: Formerly he published a German newspaper in Switzerland, which was suppressed in retaliation of the German ban on certain Swiss newspapers.
