NINETEEN SIXES IN AN INNINGS
♦ M.C.C. SCORES 406 AGAINST COUNTRY TEAM (Received December 14, 10.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 14. Hurricane hitting by W. R. Hammond and W. Voce marked England’s innings against the Queensland country team at Ipswich today. There were 19 sixes in the innings. The boundaries were short, but many of the sixes were great hits. Hammond made 109 runs in 50 minutes and hit nine sixes and 10 fours. Voce scored 39 in 17 minutes and hit six sixes, including five in one over. In the country team's second innings W. Copson, whose form has been disappointing, took three wickets in one over. The day s play produced 21 sixes. Scores: —England, first innings 406 (Hammond 109, T. S. Worthington 72, A. H. Fagg 46, Voce 39). Queensland country team, second .innings 124 (Cockburn 33. Maddern 33). Copson took three wickets for 16 and L. E. G. Ames three for 12. The match was drawn.
