Mrs Bruce Baxter (Evans street) has returned from a visit to her mother, Mrs Pitcaithly (Lyttelton). Mrs F. Thorpe fFairlie) has been on a visit to her mother, Mrs E. Palmer Chapman (Salisbury). Wigley, “Opuha Lodge,’ Park lane, returned to Christchurch yesterday. The annual reunion of the Timaru Nurses’ Association took place In the Stafford tea rooms, Miss Adams presiding. After the reunion dinner, the guests adjourned to the lounge, which was decorated with sweet peas and roses. Musical items were given and community singing was indulged in. A presentation of a brass reading lamp and a book was made to Miss Shanks, who is retiring from practice, the president thanking her for her advice and assistance to young nurses commencing their career.

PARTY AT MARSHLAND

There was a very large attendance at the Marshland Hall to celebrate the twenty-first birthday of Mr lan Morton, only son of Mr and Mrs T. Morton, of Crawford’s road. Canon H. O. T. Hanby proposed the chief toast, which was enthusiastically honoured, and Mr lan Morton was presented by his father with “the key of the door.” He returned thanks for all the good wishes and for the beautiful gifts which he had received. Music for dancing was played by Colin Smart's orchestra, and Mr W. Hassell was master of ceremonies. Miss D. Blackburn played an extra.
