* SELLING, NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE MR NASH EXPLAINS POLICY LONDON, December 7. “New Zealand will not make a trade agreement with any country until the United Kingdom’s requirements are satisfied. I hope to sue- j ceed in my endeavour to get expanding markets here for our products,” declared the New Zealand Minister for Finance (Mr W. Nash), who was a guest at the British Empire League’s luncheon. He added that New Zealanders had deeply embedded in their hearts a love of the Commonwealth and the person who stood at its head. “We hope,” he said, “that nothing will be done which will shake the tie that, binds us together.” The chairman, the Hon. L. C. M. S. Amery, referred to the part New Zealand had played in its endeavour to save British shipping in the Pacific. He said that unless more vigorous steps were taken it was in grave danger of being driven off every sea by subsidised concerns of other powers. New Zealand had given a lead in finding how the competition should be faced.
