LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR RICCARTON
TO THE EmTOB 07 THE PRESS. Sir, —I should like to correct a persistent rumour prevalent in the' Riccarton electorate to the effect that the Labour candidate for the next general election has been chosen. The Riccarton branch of the Labour party has at no time even discussed the matter. The procedure of selecting a candidate is as follows. If more than one person is nominated a selection ballot is conducted under direction of, the Canterbury Labour Representation Committee, and the names forwarded
for approval to the national executive No person can be a Labour candidate without official endorsement, and every nominated person must go to a selection ballot if there are more than one nominated, —Yours, etc., JASPER SEWELL.
