CHAMPIONSHIP ROWING
PROGRAMMES APPROVED REGATTA AT AKAROA The programme arranged for the New Zealand Rowing Association’s championship regatta at Akaroa on February 27 was approved by the executive of the Canterbury Rowing Association last evening. The events will be as follows: — 9 a.m., champion single sculls, best-and-best, one mile and a half. 9.30 a.m., junior fours, clinker, one mile and a half. 10 a.m., champion fours, best-and-best, two miles. 10.30 a.m., youths’ fours, clinker, one mile. 11 a.m., maiden doubles, clinker, one mile. 11.30 a.m., maiden fours, clinker, one mile. t 12 noon, champion pairs, best-and-best, one mile and a half. 1.30 p.m., champion double sculls, best-and-best, one mile and a half. 2 p.m., junior double sculls, clinker, one mile. 2.30 p.m., champion eights, best-and-best, two miles. 3 p.m., light-weight maiden fours, clinker, one mile. 3.30 p.m., Akaroa Plate, best-and-best, one mile. The programme submitted by the Akaroa Regatta Club for the Akaroa regatta on January 1, 1937, was also approved. The following officials were appointed to act at both regattas:—Umpire. Mr E. Velvin; starter, Mr A. T. Evans; judges, Messrs D. St. G. Gunn, K. E. Nightingale, and F. Agassiz; timekeeper, Mi' L. C. Byers; representative of the association, Mr R. J. Hobbs, INTER-CLUB EIGHTS CREWS AND DRAW FOR NEXT SATURDAY The Canterbury Rowing Association’s annual inter-club eight-oar races will be held at Stewart’s Gully on Saturday. The following are the competing crews:— Avon (No. I)—J. Rushworth (str), F. H. Thompson (7), C. A. Stiles (6), H. G. Stiles (5), F. H. Duggan (4), B. R. Walker (3), A. P. Mahony (2). L. A. Hampton bow), A. W. Mahony (cox). Avon (No. 2)— D. Mahoney (str), R. Lindsay (7), R. Orsborn (6), J. Lane (5), H. Lorimer (4), W. Francis (3), C. Ebert (2), W. Penman (bow). Canterbury—M. Hullett (str), J. A. McGiffin (7), H. F. Flower (6), H, Millard (5), S. Read (4), M. Graham (3), L. Robertson (2), J. Steeds (bow), A. Laifey (cox). Union—J. T. Harris (str), C. A. Cooper (7), A. Hogan (6), J. F. Nash (5), R. Staples (4), A. C. Smith (3), H. Wild (2), G. K. Browne (bow). The draw is as follows; —Union y. Avon No. 1, Canterbury v. Avon No. 2.
