♦ FARTING ADVICE TO ATHLETES ITRgSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, December 8 % “The lour has been most interesting and enjoyable, and I greatly appreciated the Government’s invitation, which made the visit possible,’’ said Mr J. E. Lovelock before leaving by the Aorangi this afternoon. He said that he will definitely give up running in the next few years, possibly altogether. Ho said that the standard of athletics in New Zealand was very good, considering the limited opportunities of competing in first-class company. "The athletes of New Zealand, nowever. do not work hard or consistently and regularly enough. They appear as if they have no definite plan at the back of their murks, and just rum blindly. They should train regularly and have a definite aim in view. It is useless to begin to train one week and expect to be fit the next week,” ho said. .For winter exercise he advocated cross-country running, with no racing at. all.
