GERALDINE

SPORTS FIXTURES AGAIN POSTPONED

THIRD SUCCESSIVE SATURDAY

Rain fell at Geraldine for the third successive Saturday, and all sport fixtures. with the exception of a junior cricket match, which was played under showery conditions on a slow wicket, were postponed. Players had assembled on most of the tennis courts before the rain began at 2 p.m.. but a heavy downpour, accompanied by hail, caused the abandonment of all the matches arranged. The opening of the Geraldine Swimming Club’s season, which was to have been held by the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J. R. Lack) was postponed until Tuesday evening at 6.30. One section of the community—the farmers—are not complaining about the rain, and the countryside is looking fresh and green, having benefited greatly by the frequent showers of the last month.
