Coloured lights in opal glass, and lead fittings to prevent corrosion, will be seen on the semi-circular bay on the Marine parade, Napier, soon. The lights, which had to be obtained from Czechoslovakia, are in a special opal glass which prevents the bulb from showing through the glass, and will be in blue, amber, and light mauve. Special fittings will guard against possible corrosion through contact with the salt spray, and the lights will provide an added gaiety to the parade for the Christmas holiday season.

The interesting experience of -being entertained at luncheon in a penthouse office on the roof of a New York skyscraper was enjoyed recently by Mr Frank Goldberg, well known in New Zealand through his advertising connexions, who is at present travelling in the United States of America. The office was that of Mr Arthur S. Kleeman, a New York business man. It is said that the penthouse office is an institution peculiar .to the New York city skyscraper, a limited number of leading business men of New York having established their headquarters in these attractive bungalows surmounting large business buildings. Their offices have much the aspect of private dwellings. Mr Kleeman’s offices, well known to the oil industry and also to the export trade, include his own private suite, an attractivelyappointed private office, and p. dining terrace.
