I “The right-hand rule governing the crossing of intersections by motorists cannot be interpreted in terms of which car gets to a crossing first,” said Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court when dealing with a prosecution arising out of a collision. “There is often a material difference in the spqeds of approaching vehicles. Drivers should base their judgment on the wisdom of proceeding on the possibility of a collision, a view that is the essence of the regulation.” An important stage has been reached in the task of making the law library at Auckland fully available to the profession once more after the 16 months’ disorganisation while the new building has been in course of erection. Many of the large cases in which the books have been stored were taken to the new room adjoining the old library, and a start was made to transfer the volumes to their permanent places on the new green steel shelves with their casing of beautifully polished wood. In the largest library room the eight storte carved heads /from the bid post office building in Shortland street are now being placed in position high on the inner walls.
