Lord Hartington, Parliamentary Under-Secre-tary of State for the Dominions in the British Ministry, and Lady Hartington will arrive this morning by the steamer express from Wellington, and will stay at the United Service Hotel.

Advice has been received in Auckland of the success of Dr. D. W. Guthrie, son of Mr H, D. Guthrie, of Cremorne street, Herne Bay, and Dr. Alan Douglas, son of Mr C. Douglas, Napier, who have qualified for the first section of the F.R.C.S., London.

They will be accompanied by Mr E. Dwyer, of the Department of Internal Affairs. Mr W. K. McAlpine, chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, and Mr C. H. Clibborn, secretary, returned from Wellington yesterday morning.

The Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C., was a passenger from the north yesterday morning. Mr G. A. Lewin, Town Clerk of Dunedin, was a passenger from Wellington by the steamer express yesterday morning.

Mr R. Boulter, British trade commissioner, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterday morning, and is staying at the United Service Hotel.

Messrs D. Barnes, M.P., and H. E. Herring, M.P., were passengers from the north yesterday morning.

Mr Andrew Burns, associate editor of the Christchurch “Star-Sun,” arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning after a visit to England.

Mr Alfred James Baker, assistant engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department, has been appointed deputy-chairman of the Main Highways Board. —Press Association. Sir Francis Frazer, chairman of the Executive Committee of Agriculture, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. The committee will visit dairy factories in Otago and Southland to arrange boundaries and consider the general rationalisation of the industry in those districts.
