CANTERBURY AUTO-CYCLE CLUB
| Arrangements are completed for the 1 South Island two-day trial to be held during Labour wesk-end, and so far the entries received justify the club’s initiative in organising the event. The fourth annual opening day run was held last Sunday. Results were:— Egg and spoon race: Miss F. Drummond and P. Johnston 1, Miss E. Smith and A. Smith 2. Hoop race: M. B . McClurg 1, A. Laurenson 2. Slow elimii nation contest; R. McClurg 1. Potato race: Miss E. Smith and A. Smith 1, S Mrs Lunn and P. Lunn 2. Acceleration and brake test: A. Smith 1. G. Bennett 2, R. Ogilvie 3. Circle scramble: A. and G. Laurenson 1. Circle riding; Miss N. Calvert and F. Kelly 1. Mrs Smith and S. Benzoni 2. Point to point: M. B. McClurg 1. A. Laurenson 2. Obstacle race: K. Watson 1, O. Edwards 2. The prize for the most points gained during the day was won by A. Smith.
As the ground has been badly damaged by the recent wet weather Waihora Park will' not be available for the opening of the Pioneer Motor Club’s summer season. The event will now be held at Prebbleton.
Water in the crankcase may usually be traced to one of three causes, a loose cylinder head gasket, a cracked cylinder head, or a sand hole, in the water jacket.
