THE PALESTINE DISTURBANCES
MEDIATION OF ARAB KING
ARMISTICE TO BE SOUGHT
AWAITING A MOVE BY BRITAIN
(TOTTED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPTRIGHT.)
(Received October 7, 9.50 p.m.)
LONDON, October 7,
The Jerusalem correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian” says it is reliably reported that an armistice proclamation, arising from the Arab King’s mediation, will be issued by the Higher Arab Committee within 24 hours.
The King approved the text yesterday, but Jassim Pasha al Hashimi, Premier of Iraq, suggested a modification, which has caused a slight delay. It is understood that the proclamation will appeal for an* armistice only, after which the Arabs will await some indication of Britain’s “good intention” for a final settlement.
