A ‘Variety” gift party was held at the home of Mr and. Mts Walker (North Beach' In honour of Miss Beth Walker, whose marriage will take place shortly. Misses Enid Gardner. OBITUARY

MRS S. GUMMING

Mrs Gumming, wife of Mr S. Gumming, at one time postmaster at Masterton, died this week. She lived in Masterton for 20 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr G. W. Schroder, one of the pioneer settlers who arrived in the Nelson district in 184% and was a sister of the late Mrs Thomas Carter, formerly of Hillesden, add Burley. Marlborough.

After a very brief Illness Emily Cowper, wife of Dr, P. H. Mules, of Woodville, died on Sunday. Mrs Mules, who was the daughter of Mr and Mrs R.
