The intention of the Mines Depart* ment to undertake a comprehensive geological survey of the West Coast mining- areas was mentioned to the Mayor of Westport (Mr J. Kilkenny) In a telephone conversation last evening with the Minister for Mines (the Hon, P, C. Webb), who said that approximately 40 men would shortly, be started on this work in the Inangahua and Lyell areas.
