REQUEST FOR CONFERENCE OF POST-PRIMARY • BOARDS

NELSON. October 6.
The unification of authorities controlling education was the subject of a circular from the Auckland Grammar School Board which was read at a meeting of the Council of Governors of Nelson Colleges: The letter set forth opinions why it was considered thatunification on the lines suggested by thl conference at primary education boards would be unwise. It said: “We feel that unless the postprimary school boards of New Zealand give unification under primary school boards very careful consideration soon serious damage to the interests of poSt-primary school pupils may reSuit*** * * ■ It was suggested that they reauest the Minister for Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) to permit the holding of a conference of post-primary school boards to arrive at a united decision aJlp what steps should be taken. Ifhe Nelson council decided that it was in favour of a conference being tudd soon. '
