At St. Michael's and All Angels’ ClSxch. iMt evening, the marriage was celebrated of Miss Lorraine Barker, younger daughter, of Mr and Mrs % H.rSAse church, to Mr , R ® gm^ d second son of Mrs E. H. Stevenson, Christchurch. The Rev. O. EiteGjwald performed,the ceremony, Richard was organist, and Mr Barker escorted his daughter. . , . The bride wore a simply-xnaae trained frock of parchment satin, the only trimming being a small spray or orange blossom at the waist and velvet lilies on ;t he train. Her cream .tulle veil worn over the face as she entered the * church, was held with a circlet of velvet lilies, and she carried an armlet of cherry-coloured tulips. She was attended by her sister, Miss Jean Barker, and Mias Dorothy Linnie. They wore Victorian frocks of turquoise blue taffeta, made with pff-the-shoulder effect, and-trimmed with taffeta flowers, lined with silver lame, and their wreaths of pink and blue hyacinths and forget-me-nots matched their posies. . , Mr P. McCaskey was best man and Mi* E. Bourke was groomsman. At the reception, held in the TanzGretchen Studio, many guests were welcomed by Mrs Barker, who wore a plum-coloured ring velvet free*, with dull silver clips and a small velvet hat to match. She earned a •loose, bunch of hyacinths and tulips. The bridegroom’s mother wore a brown floral crepe tunic frock and hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of autumntinted flowers. ' For travelling, the bride wore a bottle-green figured crepe frock, loose coat of bottle-green wool crepe, and fine straw hat to match.

Mcllwrick, and of William McKeown, vounger son p£ Mr James Cleland (Bidwill street) and the late Mrs Cleland. The Rev. James Baird officiated and Mr A. C. Mclnnes was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle Mr W. G. Thomson (Maungati), were ’a, frock of ivory pebble satin, closely woven.with silver thread-The closely fitting bodice was ruched down the centre, back and front.and was finished at the neckline with a posy of orange blossom. The niching was repeated from wrist to elbow on the long sleeves and on godets inset at the sides of the skirt. A panel from the waistline at the back widened into a long train, which was edged with a ruched frill of georgette. Her ved of i ivory cut tulle was arranged from ® i pleated halo and a roleau band of ..wisted silver. An upstanding frill of tulle was arranged over the shoulders and a cluster of blue tulle flowers at the neckline. The frocks were sleeveless and , each maid wore wristlets of frilled : tulle and narrow bandeaux of ruched tulle caught with blush pink , roses in their hair. They carried sheaves of peach blossom. . , ■ Mr J. C. MacdonaM was best man and Messrs C. G. Cauldwell and F. JFoley, of Christchurch, were groomsmen. Messrs W. G. Quirk and S. Wreford were ushers. At a reception held in the Bay Tea rooms, Mrs Mcllwrick received her guests wearing an ensemble of Sandringham blue silk cotele hailstone spotted in satin. The frock had a peplum effect and a hand faggoted jabot of beige -georgette. The three-quarter ssmi-swagger coat bad a pleated collar and the sleeves were finished with bands of beige fur. Her blue Baku straw hat was trimmed with a cluster, cf red, blue, and beige anemones. Mrs Cleland were a navy marquisite ensemble. The vestee and revers of the coat were cf navy and white patterned georgette Her wide navy hat was finished with a petallcd ruching. The bride travelled in a dusky oink suede crepe suit, finished with brown stitching and buttons. Her ruffled jabot was of pleated organdie and her Mane Stewart hat was of nigger brown Jack Tap straw Mr and Mrs W. McK. Cleland will live in Christchurch.

VISITORS ENTERTAINED

Members of the Clarkville basketball team who played a match with the Prebbleton Club on Saturday afternoon were the guests of the latter at a dance held in the Prebbleton Hall the same evening, when there was a large attendance of visitors from both , town and country districts. Les Kinsman’s orchestra supplied music for the dancing, and Miss Stella Dow played extras. Monte Carlo dances were won by Mr and - Mrs McGirr _ and Miss. Renee Gallagher and Mr J. Cunneen. Mrs John Farrell gave much pleasure witn her singing of several songs for which Miss Mina Ward played the accompaniments,. and piano solos played, by Miss Lillian Harper and songs sung by Colonel James Murphy were much enjoyed. .
