PROPOSALS FOR AIR SERVICE
SUBMISSION TO FEDERAL
CABINET
EARLY ADOPTION EXPECTED
(Received October 5, 11.30 p.m.)
SYDNEY, October 5
Sir Archdale Parkhill (Federal j Minister for Defence), who returned j by the Awatea to-day, said he would | probably submit the air service pro- j posals discussed in New Zealand to j the Federal Cabinet this week. Hej saw no reason why the whole j scheme, which he believed would be j satisfactory to Australia, should not j be adopted within a few weeks. 1 Sir Archdale added that he found fairly general support by the people for the New Zealand Government. The Ministers seemed- most earnest and well meaning, and were working very hard to put their policy into effect before the close of the present session. Sir Archdale said he had also discussed the fruit embargo with the Hon. P. Fraser (Minister for Health) and the Hon. W. Nash (Minister for Customs). Mr Nash told him that New Zealand was unable to do anything at present.

There were many difficulties, but they were not beyond the capabilities of Australian and New Zealand aviators, g'ven proper ground organisation. “I am convinced the service will be a success financially,” said Captain Johnston. The two countries had a great deal in common. The citizens of both would find the service a safe and speedy means of travel, and he predicted that there would be a heavy demand for seats.
