SPRING DISPLAY AT BARFIELD

HIGH STANDARD OF BLOOMS IN DAFFODIL SECTION

Although the entries were not quite as numerous as in previous years, the annual . spring show held by the Barfield Horticultural Society was highly successful. The daffodil section was equal to the previous year’s display. The decorative work in the children’s section was particularly fine, and waa ver y favourably commented on toy the judges. Mr George Lewis, of Christchurch, had on exhibition a special display of very fine daffodils. Mr C. Morgan Williams, M.P, for Kalapol, opened the show and congratulated the exhibitors and prize-winners. The president was Mrs L. Morrison and the secretary Mr S. Oldridge. There was a good attendance of the public and during the evening a community sing was held, the leader being Mr H. H. Barrs. Mrs Barrs assisting at the piano. An auction sale conducted by Mr C. Evlson was highly successful. Items were given by Miss Gwyn Oldridge and Mr C. Evlson. The evening concluded with dancing, the music being supplied by Mr L. Westwood and Miss Joan Redfem.
