CANCER RESEARCH
TO THE EDITOR Op THE PRESS. , • Sir,—ln Australia the recognition of success in:the cure, of menuigu-s oy a sister of the nursin; protession is an advance in the right direction. We have one of our own In Christchurch, a sister ■ who has done much research in cancer; tuberculosis, 'and kindred diseases, with evidence of cure and no fees for her labour of love. She has treated thousands and seen war service, and is well armed with healing power and experience of years in administrative positions. Even the layman is convinced of the importance of diet in these matters, and we have been particularly grateful to Dr. Thacker for sowing seeds; for so long in this direction. A harvest of good results is manifest and people actually consider-their diet. The Sunlight League hopes to select a sunny spot where heliotherapy can be practised and research in the interests of sufferers from tuberculosis and cancer.* Ail down the ages it has been the unorthodox lover of mankind who has left the world the richer—the one who has been laughed to scorn in fill probability. The courage of the minority is superb. Sister Davies requires a rest home on the hills for close observation anddiet adjustment of. sufferers. Is it not such obvious efforts as these that the Travers Trust is intended to encourage? We know diet is the rqot of all evil in these diseases and the sun rS absolutely necessary. “The man that closes his mind to that which is strange and new is afraid; he dislikes untrodden paths. . Condemnation btdore investigation keeps a man in ever-last-ing ignorance”- -Yours, etc 'k Y G?EIA October 5, 1036. ,
