The annual competition of the Canterbury University College Dialetlc Society, in prepared speeches, impromptu speeches, and original verSe, was held in. the Little Theatre at the college last evening. Mr C. F. Bait presided. . The Judge, Mr H. W. Rhodes, placed the speakers:—Prepared speech: Mr J. N. Matson 1, Mr B. 3V V/ijson 2L Impromptu speeches: Mr F. R. Belmer X, Messrs B. Hille and B. J. .WilMO (equal) 2, The prise for the best original verse was won by Mr F. R. Belmer. ■ ,
