JEWELLER’S SHOP RAIDED
WINDOW BROKEN BY TILE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELE (JEAN.) AUCKLAND, October 4. A smash and grab raid on the jewellery shop of T. H. Martin, in Symonds street, was nfade soon after midnight on Friday, but with only minor success. The main front plate-glass window Of the shop was intact at midnight but soon after it was broken by someone who threw a piece of tile through it. The tile struck the window father high up, making a hole about nine inches in diameter, through which it was difficult to reach the shelves on which jewellery of considerable value was displayed. As is the custom in most jeweller’s shops the most valuable articles were removed from the window at night, but had the tile shattered the window instead of merely making.a hole, watches, rings
and other jeweßery could easily have ' been taken. Only two watches, of a total value of less than" £5, were taken. .. f
